The Three Assassins of Prosperity; The Entrepreneurs Secret Weapon – how to deal with fear

Following my last article The Three Assassins of Prosperity – Fear of Success we come to the last of the series of articles regarding The Three Assassins of Prosperity with The Entrepreneurs Secret Weapon – how to deal with fear.

There are two ways of dealing with fear; passively or actively.

When dealing with fear passively one seeks to avoid situations or circumstances that cases anxiety. So in the scenario of starting your own business you would avoid starting one in case you fail. In this passive mode you feel anxious and precarious. And this is why so many throw in the towel at the first difficulty they face when they try to start a business. The fear of failure kicks in and it appears easier to stop there and then rather than actually experience failing properly.

Dealing with fear actively is an entirely different thing. We have all experienced having to face some of our fears at some time or other. When a risky or difficult situation was unexpectedly thrust upon us we often have no choice in the matter; we have to face up to it. At those times we find an inner strength and facing the challenge head on, discover that what we feared was not so bad.

As far back as time itself, and from all backgrounds, there are those who have had no other choice but to face their fear on a daily basis. From people growing up in extreme poverty and those fighting wars to those suffering personal tragedies, all have to confront their fears on a daily basis and arise above them or be pulled down. This daily fire forges them till they become toughened to the point of steel. Evidence of this abounds everywhere.

They are not born this way. It is unnatural not to feel fear.

What separates those who rise above adversity from those who go under is the strength of their will and the hunger to overcome their fear.

For many there comes a time when the passive defensive way of dealing with their fear no longer works and they turn to actively face their head on. When this takes place they learn about the power and value that facing your fear brings you.

You suddenly realize that while the vast majority of people run from the things they fear, those that face their fear and are willing to attack their fear at the source experience great things.

They learn the true power of life.

When it comes to entrepreneurship you must realize that fear can either be your biggest ally or your biggest enemy.

If you avoid starting something for fear of failing you will always be on the lookout for reasons why something cannot work. It also means that the first difficulty you get you’ll give up. You will be doomed to dream about financial success while those who face up to their fear will experience success and ultimately freedom.

You wont necessarily succeed all the time. But by constantly acting against your fear you will ultimately succeed. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit at home and think about it. Action gives you the power to change the circumstances or the situation. You must overcome the inertia by doing something.

Success starts in the mind. Therefore, you must believe that you can achieve your goals. Successful people are successful for many reasons one of which is this: successful people look at mistakes or failures as opportunities to learn.

Ultimately life is a mean bitch, which will break you if you let it. You have to meet your challenges head on and fight for what you want.

Success is the outcome of perseverance; a step at a time.
