In today’s article, we’re going to look at building our website focusing on selected basic design elements that will GUARANTEE to lock up an unfair advantage over your competitors…

This is based upon the single-most important principle to keep in mind when building a website… And that is that your website’s primary objective is to build your email list of customers. Period!

Your website’s primary purpose is simply this… to build your email list of customers.

The more customers you have on your list, the more opportunities you have, the stronger your foundation and the stronger your business becomes.

As mentioned in our previous article your prospective customers are searching for INFORMATION and because of this you will only be able to engage with them by providing HIGH QUALITY INTERESTING CONTENT. This effectively makes you an Information Marketer.

If you’re anything like me, you just don’t have the time to create your own content or products on a constant basis. After all there are all the other aspects of your business that have to be taken care of. So what are you to do to keep pumping high quality content to your website to attract visitors?

The one thing you could do is to take a look at joining various membership sites that provide good quality Private Label Rights products that you can use. I would suggest that you take a look at what the following membership sites have to offer. They all offer a free membership and you can pick up giveaway products, resell and master resell rights as well as PLR products for your use:

In a previous article we discussed three key requirements necessary to grab instant highly responsive traffic to your website. However, we did not get into the specifics of building a list. The three key requirements which consisted of an easily targeted market, interesting content to write about and products readily available to generate both front and backend sales laid the foundation and started to prepare our strategy to attract visitors to our website.

It is imperative to have a solid foundation upon which to build your business otherwise your business will not stand a chance. If you are not willing to lay that foundation you are simply wasting your time and money.

The survival of any business is determined by whether it can attract customers, and ultimately repeat customers. You should never lose sight of the fact that the sole focus of your business is your customers.

Your website’s primary goal is simply this… to build your email list of customers.

Most people think that getting sales is the focus of their website. And they couldn’t be more wrong. Getting sales is only the secondary purpose of your website.

And forget fancy web designs. Award winning web page designs does not produce more than what a clean simple page design will do – except cost you a lot of money; Money that could be put to better use marketing.

As your websites primary goal is to build your list do not put affiliate links that allows your visitors to leave your site without providing you with their name and email address. Don’t add thousands of products that may possibly make you a ‘ton’ of money.

You have to keep in mind your primary goal as you build your website…

And that is simply to build and continually add to your customer list!

To that end each and every component you apply to your website has to concentrate upon building your list.

So how do you go about building a list? What tools do you incorporate into your websites to add to my list of subscribers?

  • I have a subscription box offering a free subscription to my weekly newsletter right at the top which includes some of the benefits they will get from joining my newsletter;
  • I have a pop-up window offering a free training course – each module is issued once a week over the period of between 12 and 16 weeks. The training course should naturally focus on the niche of the website;
  • I have a form within my webpage that offers either the free course mentioned above or a distinctive report which focused upon the niche of the website. The free report naturally contains links to various products and includes a link to my free training course;
  • I have an exit pop-up that offers something of value in exchange to subscribing to my newsletter. I know that some people find exit pop-ups but your visitor is leaving your website and you may persuade them to subscribe to your newsletter before they leave for good; and
  • I also have a link in the link bar offering my newsletter or training course.

That’s five ways I’m offering an opportunity to sign up to one of my lists on the homepage alone!

You have to ‘sell’ your free training course and your newsletter to your visitors. You have to provide compelling reasons to your prospective customer to subscribe to your list.

Solely putting up a link that that says “join my newsletter” simply doesn’t cut it; nobody cares!

They want to know what’s in it for them. And it is up to you to tell them what’s in it for them by provide them with a compelling reason to subscribe.

Customers simply don’t care about you or your business! Sad but true…Get over it!

Their only concern is “What’s in it for me?”

Remember – you only have a few seconds to grab your visitor’s attention and show them exactly “WHAT’S IN IT FOR THEM.

You want stop them dead in their tracks by presenting them with a HUGE benefit they IMMEDIATELY get for visiting your website. That’s your primary job as an intelligent website owner!

Know your visitors and give them something they want… FREE!

Once a visitor subscribes to your newsletter and/or your training course you have an opportunity to build a relationship them. You get to show them that you really do know what you are talking about with regards to your niche.

You can’t do this with your website alone – besides you are competing with hundreds of other websites providing similar information/products.

However, once your visitor subscribes to your newsletter and/or your training course you can keep in touch with them via email… Now that’s something truly invaluable!

Your goal is to get them to trust you and value what you have to offer. You try to enrich their lives’ in some way. You entertain them and provide them with loads of value in return for their part in helping you reinforce, construct and expand your foundation.

Just don’t blow it, like so many so called marketers do, by sending them a deluge of emails promoting product after product. This will only irritate them and cause them to unsubscribe from your list.

Provide them with valuable information. Make them feel valued. Show them you care and that you are not in this for yourself only.

And if you attain your goal they may even consider buying one or more of your products at some point in the future.
