Hi Guys,

Hello again, and welcome to another informative piece of the puzzle of list building for your internet marketing.

This article considers the use of pop-ups to help you build a list.

Before, you go about publicizing you web address all over the internet you must make sure that you have all the tools and resources in place to capture your visitor’s names and email addresses in order to profit from them.

The one thing you always have to keep in mind and that is…

The primary goal of your website is to build and continually add to your customer list

Apart from the indispensable requirement of quality, entertaining content on your site to attract visitors you also have to have more than one way of capturing your visitors email addresses.

However, your ultimate goal is to make money – loads of it. And to do this you will want to expand your business in order to bring in multiple streams of web revenue.

Take a moment to consider your website…

The first stage of your website should contain all that is necessary to attract targeted traffic as well as converting that traffic into a solid foundation of targeted list of email subscribers and the means to make a few sales on a daily basis.

However, you should plan to scale up to expand your list in order to build up your business into a real powerhouse. And to keep expanding your business to construct an auto-pilot system that will generate sale after sale once it has been set up correctly.

When designing your website you should design it in such a way that you can be practically assured that you will convert all the traffic coming to your website.

I think that I really need to reiterate this one fundamental fact:

The primary goal of your website is to build and continually add to your customer list

And the one thing you can do to make sure that you grab the email addresses of your visitors is to,,,

add lead capture systems onto your home page.

So why do you need to build a list and use a List?

As a rule, not having and using a list can be likened to ‘leaving money on the table’. Let me illustrate this below.

Attract thousands of new visitors with this automated traffic regenerator

Transform your DEAD content into a Ranking Monster…

Take the example of a typical high street store. Customers come in, browse around, and if the store is lucky they may buy something before they leave. Once they’ve left, the store has no way of getting in touch with them and encourage them to come back again.

Unfortunately this is the business model a lot of internet businesses follow because they don’t know better.

However, if the store had managed to obtain their customer’s contact details, they would be able to notify them when they have a new stock, special discounts, and so forth. Upon notification the customer may elect to go back to the store, or at very least may consider doing so.

The same applies to your internet business, in whatever niche that you’re into, if you had a list of previous customers then whenever you have a new product, or other relevant offer, you would be able to fire off an email to them to let them know and as simple as it sounds, it is amazingly effective.

Let’s put the above in terms of figures as it may illustrate the above in a more concrete form.

Let’s assume that you have built an 8,000 strong email list, and you send out an email about your latest product that retails for $20. If only 10% of your list purchases your product, that is 800 instant customers and you would have made $16,000.

If you did not have that list, it would have been impossible to have those 800 instant customers.

The above neatly illustrates why you should build and use a list as it establishes a firm base of regular customers to whom you can market your products and offers with relative ease.

So without further ado let’s develop your homepage so that you can be sure that you snatch up those email addresses. This will involve…

adding pop-ups, exit windows, forms, and lead capture systems to our homepage.

To ensure that you have given yourself every opportunity to do this effectively, you will need to incorporate a few lead capture systems into our homepage.

Most websites will have, at best, a subscription form embedded directly into their homepage.

However as I’ve stated in a previous article titled “The SINGLE-MOST important “Principle” to Build Your Website On A “ROCK SOLID” Foundation…”, you should try to incorporate at least three or four “lead capture” systems into your homepage for maximum results.

  • A link to your newsletter, if you’ve got one, at the top of the page;
  • A pop up inviting your visitors to register for a FREE e-course or special report. The e-course or report should naturally focus on the niche of the website;
  • A link in the menu bar offering a FREE e-course or report (some type of valuable downloadable product);
  • An exit pop up for your offer; and
  • A subscription form embedded directly into your homepage.

While you may already have a subscription form embedded directly into their homepage you will have to expand your capture page to give your targeted traffic every opportunity to “opt-in” to our email system.

Spend a bit of time to decide what you would like to offer your traffic in return for their email address.

Personally I prefer to use the following:

  1. A free e-course;
  2. A free newsletter; or
  3. A free report to download.

Now for those of you who don’t know what a pop-up is, it is a small window that ‘pops up’ over the top of web pages in your internet browser. They are used as a way to get your attention, however due to their excessive overuse; users became irritated, leading to software providers and the major web browsers to introduce pop-up blockers. I would not let this worry me if I were you.

I will, however, address the issue of “pop-ups” in light of the fact that some people have been going on about the general use of pop-ups and how annoying they can be to your website visitors.

Personally, I hate irrelevant pop-ups. You know – those pop-ups whose advertising is entirely irrelevant to the websites niche. To me a pop-up has to be relevant to the particular website’s niche. And I believe that the majority of people feel the same way.

I’m sure that you will agree with me that there is nothing more infuriating than when visiting a website you are bombarded by multiple pop-ups and none of them has anything to do with what you are interested in. And to infuriate you still further – each time you close one – another pops up on your browser. There are even times that you have to close down your browser to get rid of the darned things.

Now the above is certainly not what I was referring to when I advocate the use of pop-ups. Your website visitors won’t mind if they see a pop-up on your homepage as long as it is relevant to your target audience and as long as it gives them the option to close it immediately should they not be interested.

Now, as long as you stick to the rules I doubt that you will ever have any complaints regarding pop-ups. And these are as follows:

  • Only use one pop-up on your homepage;
  • The pop-up must offer something valuable on the subject your target audience has come to your site to learn more about; and
  • Never place a pop-up on your homepage advertising an affiliate program, traffic exchange system, banner ad, etc. as this will definitely irritate your visitors and may lead to complaints.

You will be surprised by how many visitors will enter their name and email addresses into a custom designed and strategically placed pop-up offering them something of value.

It is essential that you take the time to understand the importance of a well-designed homepage to your business. A homepage designed to capture as many leads as possible. And to do this it is essential that you learn how to go about adding “un-blockable” pop-ups, pop unders, exit pop up windows, and forms to your homepage.

After all –

The primary goal of your website is to build and continually add to your customer list

It is also absolutely essential that you set up an autoresponder to capture and then communicate with your visitors. I would suggest using Getresponse or Aweber for these services.

It doesn’t matter which one you use as both these services will allow you to create pop-ups, pop-unders, exit pops, glide in windows, embedded forms, etc. through the account tools they offer.

I hope that the above will help your to create an effective homepage and help you build your list.

I wish you all the very best in your list building endeavors

Warmest regards,
