Internet Time and Money Wasters To Avoid

Viral Marketing Frenzy - A force so powerful, it cannot be stopped!

Hi Guys,

Today we are going to take a quick look at a few of few time and money wasters that you may do well to avoid. The trouble is that it so darn easy to fall into the trap of wasting time and money on the internet. Unfortunately for us time and money are intertwined so that by wasting time you are in fact wasting money and vice versa.

As I’ve mentioned in previous post/article time is a commodity you simply cannot afford to dwindle, especially in the internet marketing business. And for most of you who may be starting out money is often tight and you need to spend your money where it will benefit and improve your business the most. And this is to increase traffic to your site and to build your list.

[As a side note to the above you should focus upon building a quality list. A large list that does not buy from you is really worthless when compared to a small list of people that are engaged and buy your products.]

The following are a few of the time and money wasters that dogged my early internet marketing career and slowed me right down. I hope that by me talking about these time and money wasters it may stop you from you from wasting your time and money.

Email: This is a big one. Don’t spend all your time checking your emails. There are enough distractions without adding to them. I normally check my emails as I start work. I try to keep the time I spend going through my emails as short as possible. I may check them for a brief moment halfway through my schedule and once again just before I finish for the day.

Choose carefully from whom you will accept emails. Let’s face it, most of us do not mind some advertising but if you happen to get a constant barrage of emails from others that constantly try to sell you the latest big thing or shiny object then I would advise you to Opt-out. If there is no opt-out link then simply create a rule within your email service that sends those unwanted emails directly to your spam or junk folder. Be ruthless. You only want emails that are of actual benefit to you.

“Latest Big Thing / Magic Bullet”: Let’s get real here, there is no “one” program that will change everything for you. There is no magic bullet that will last for the long term. If you’ve been seduced by that old siren song that’s okay it happens to all of us. In fact, how many projects or models do you have in the works right now, but you still go out and try to find that “golden method” every day? Does that sound familiar?

“Shiny object” syndrome: The definition of the “Shiny object” syndrome is when you buy one product after another after another on the latest internet marketing fad. Even when you didn’t even open up let alone use the last 4 products you bought. You will swear that this next one is “the one” that will make all the difference and that this time you will make use this latest buy.

Unless you are actually going to make an effort to actually use the products you buy don’t bother to buy them. I know that it is easier to say than to do as many of us get caught us by the hype surrounding some of the products advertised to us.

Television: Don’t watch television. Let’s face it; it is so easy to while your time in front of the TV. I know just how tempting it is to vegetate in front of the television after a long day at work. After all, the last thing you probably want to do is to fire up your computer and work on internet business.

The temptation to watch TV is possibly even greater when you are working from home. You place your laptop on your knees, settle into your recliner or settee, and switch the TV on. The thing is the television will distract you and make any project you’re working on take much longer than it should. While you are working, avoid the television at all costs.

YouTube: Unless you are putting up videos on YouTube for marketing purposes I would suggest that you leave YouTube well alone as it is so easy to waste time there.

I hope that the above is of benefit to you. Please feel free to leave a comment below. I would really love to hear from you.

Until the next time,

Warmest regards,

Alain
